Parracombe Archaeological and Historical Society (PAHS) started a quarter of a century ago, to help preserve the history of the village. Since then it has been responsible for several major projects like the book ‘An Unfinished History’, a living history day held on the Motte and Bailey Castle and numerous exhibitions focussing, among other things, on the school, the two churches and farming. At the moment our most prominent project is ‘The Longstone Landscape’, which has involved properly mapping the barrows lying above the village in a bid to find out more about why they are there and, crucially, who built them. We would welcome participation and ideas from anyone linked to Parracombe and particularly papers or accounts of how people once lived in Parracombe.
Could you tell me please – does a photo exist showing Crocombe’s Parracombe Brewery?
