Outcomes from the Village Meeting on 5th October and next steps in defining how we move forward.
On Wednesday 5th October, 31 people attended an open meeting at the village hall to
review four “sketched options” for the development of the hall and to provide feedback on
elements of each design. The meeting started with a review of the village hall survey results
(find them here: Group results and Individual results) and then allowed attendees to spend time reviewing each of the sketches.
It was made clear that we were not “making a choice”, but feeding back what we liked and
what we didn’t like. The likelihood is that the final design will be a combination of elements
from each sketch.
Each attendee was asked to complete a form with their feedback as well as write comments
directly on to the sketches. The summary of this raw feedback is contained with a

The Village Hall Committee met afterwards to discuss next steps on the basis that we have
now collected a vast amount of opinion and views from the survey and the consultation
meetings held on 26th July and 5th October. The meeting decided to form a “working group”
to take all the information collected and to hone this down into a tight Design Brief which
our architect can deliver against. Feeding into this process will also be the insights gained
from a series of visits made by members of the working group to other recently renovated
village halls – namely the village halls at Swimbridge, Wootton Courtenay, Winsford and
Holford.
The members of the working group are: Si Young (VHC Chair), Harry Harrison (project
manager), Linda Tansley, Alison Smith, Jaye Jones, Nick Backhouse, John Minns and David
Billingham.
Once we have completed all of the above steps, and before pressing ahead with any
planning application, we will of course make sure there is an opportunity for everyone to
review and comment on the proposals we come up with.
