From Parracombe Village Hall Strategic Development Group
Since our last update, and facing the harsh reality of funders diverting available resources to support the cost of living crisis, we have decided to introduce 4 separate phases for the Village Hall renovation. This will reduce the amounts we will be asking for at one time, in the hope that we will be successful. The first phase will be to replace the roof in it’s entirety, and the rear wall with a steel frame and block work. This will be our foundation phase and will be the springboard to phases 2-4 to eventually realise the amazing building that we have planning permission for. This first phase will also ensure the failing roof and back wall will be fixed for the very long term. The strategic development group responsible for the feasibility of Phase 1 is working with our architects to finalise structural plans and finally quotes for the work required. The funding team (which forms part of the Strategic Development Group) have a strategy in place to construct bids for the required funding, once the Phase 1 costs have been determined.
The political and financial landscape in England is giving us some unexpected funding challenges and costs of building material and construction have escalated to the extent that we have made the decision to implement the phased approach.
Once the amended plans are agreed with the architect and the Phase 1 costs are established we will hold an open meeting for the community to see what is proposed and to discuss the proposal. We expect this to be early in 2026.
